Show & Tell # 3

My favorite part of the year is finally upon us! I absolutely love the autumn time of the year. I am simply fascinated by the trees and the process of the leaves changing colors. Although, I am not a fan of the leaves, sticks and nuts falling in my yard as we speak (we live in the woods). I just wish the leaves would be the pretty golden colors and stay on the tress. However, since I am a science teacher, I know that's not how the process works.

The fall is a busy time of the year. As the weather starts changing, we begin to start thinking of the holidays coming soon and all that we have to accomplish in order to be prepared for them. It seems as though there's one holiday right after another. In addition to those celebrations, the fall also brings with it DH's and my birthdays. And, the birthdays of our extended family mainly fall during this time of the year. The fall brings with it the county fair, fantasy football, pumpkin bread and so much more to look forward to.

We bought our home in January of 2007 and ever since then I have been buying seasonal decor. Here's my deal though, I only buy it after that season/holiday has passed. I get it on sale that way. So, for the first year, I didn't have any decor around the house for that very reason. But, when 2008 rolled around I was set for every season and holiday to come. I have added a few things over the course of this year to my collection, but not much. Each season/holiday happens once a year and by the time another year passes and it's time for me to get the decorations out, I will have forgotten what I had in the first place. That means DH would have forgotten for sure! The decorations are seemingly brand new to me each time I get them out.

My two favorite seasons/holidays I love to decorate my home for are autumn and winter or Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would like to share some pictures of just a few of my decorations I currently have out.

I'm always impressed when people redecorate for the season. Our house is so undecorated period. And fall is my favourite season too.

I really like the 2nd pic. And very smart way to go about buying your decorations, but it takes a lot of patience!

I do the same thing about decorating--buying the stuff after the holidays! We have Halloween decorations up, but I don't have a lot of Thanksgiving/General fall stuff...your stuff is beautiful and has inspired me!

Love the decorations! Fall is also my favorite time of year. My birthday falls during this time too (I'm a Thanksgiving baby!) and I just feel happy (usually) during this time of year. Enjoy your fall and winter :D

GORGEOUS! You have talent! I just got the new pottey barn catalogue and was drooling at all of the beautiful fall decorations. I, like you will wait to buy my fall decor for the new house until the sales start. ; )

Dang, Rachel. I've been depressed about Fall (well, really about Summer's demise), but your post has me feeling all happy about it.

Lovely pics of your home decor.

Oooo, how pretty! My favorite season is fall, too! Unfortunately here in the desert we usually go from green leaves strait to brown, but it does finally cool off. And it definately makes me appreciate growing up out East!

I love your decorations! I do the same thing buying seasonal stuff off season. I also use a lot of pinecones because they work fall and winter (and if you scent them, they will stay scented for a long time).
