Gatlinburg 2011

Our first and last vacation as a family of 3 was amazing! We had been talking about going somewhere this summer for a while, but never made any decisions or booked any hotels. About a week before we wanted to go, we finally decided "Hey, we are going somewhere!" So, Gatlinburg it was. It took us about 5 hours to get there, but it was mainly the same higway all of the way there.

Here a just a few pictures of our amazing few days. We left Monday (6.20) and returned Thursday (6.23) (our 4 year anniversary).
We ate at tons of new places, explored G.atlinburg and Pigeon F.orge from one end to the other and took full advantage of the hotel's swimming pool. Baby C did so well on the drive down and sleeping in the PnP. We are excited to go back when the little ones get older; it will be a whole new experience. My DH and I hadn't been to G.atlinburg in years. If you live close, I suggest you visit! I really wish I could upload all of the pictures; I took around 300 in 3 1/2 days!

11 Months

6.16.11
Baby C is growing like crazy! Her weight is between 20 & 21lbs. She is currently wearing 12 months clothes, but some are too big. The shirt in this picture is size 6-9 months! She is waving like crazy still. She says the same words as before, but 'talks' ALL of the time. She wears size 3 shoes, but some of them are too big. We put her walker and jumperoo away; she just isn't interested anymore! She walks with the help the couch or some of other object or toy that she can push around. She will stand up for a while if we get her in that position. She is a water-bug! She still eats everything in sight. She hasn't had the 'after school bottle in about a month and we are currently in the process of taking away her noon bottle. She loves anything that she can find in cabinets and drawers. We find something new that we need to child proof almost daily. She is also starting to climb.

28 Week Appointment

Friday, 6.17.11, I had my 28 week check-up and 1 hour glucose test.

I was FREAKED out about the 1 hr test. I was so nervous that I wouldn't keep the drink down. Someone had told me the night before that it tasted like S.unkist. I laughed. Well, it did! For the first few ounces anyway. By the time I was almost done, it tasted like pure sugar. I started drinking it at 10am and by 10:05 I was finished (after only a few gags).

Once we got to the office and signed in, I turned in my empty bottle. The closer it got to 11am, I started to panic. They hadn't yet called me back and sometimes it can be VERY difficult to get blood from me. So, I went and reminded the receptionist.

I was in luck, the bloodwork part went just fine. Then, we went through the basics (all the normals checks).

The midwife came in not much later. I measured right on at 28cm, her HB was between 140 & 150 and I received more of an explanation about the UTI. I won't go into details, but it totally freaked me out. She answered all of my questions (I am cleared for pedicures, it's normal to have night-sweats, it's ok for parts of me to be falling asleep randomly, etc... :) )!

All went well. Our 3/4D ultrasound is set for 6.29.11. Our 32 week appointment is scheduled for 7.13.11. After that, we will go in for check-ups every two weeks for two appointments and then every week until delivery. Ummm, wow!

Hopefully, if I hear from the office before my next appointment it's only good news.... I really, really don't want to take the 3 hour glucose test!

UT.... What?

After our Unexpected OB Trip I have been drinking as much fluids as I can... well, I can say that I have increased the amount.

Monday, during all the madness of getting new carpet installed, I missed a call from my OB. After I got ahold of the correct person, they told me that they got back the results of the urine culture and analysis and that I have a UTI. I have never had a UTI in my life, but I do know that they are common during pregnancy. Could this also be a result of my lack of fluids? Could this have been causing my cramping?

Blah... So, I started antibiotics again Monday evening after I made sure that it didn't have any amoxil or related substance in it!

Adoption Picnic

The adoption group that we are members of holds several family functions throughout the year. On Sunday (7.5.11) we attended the family picnic. There was a ton of food, a magician and clowns that worked with balllons and painted the childrens faces and arms. The park that the event was held at was nicely kept and shaded. It was nice to see everyone and meet new people.

Nursery #2 Progress

It took us a couple of days to get everything out of the room. Some of it we put in the yard sale a couple of weeks ago. Other things we boxed up and put it in storage at my Dad's house. Other things will go back in the room eventually (swing, bouncy seat, etc...). Nursery #2 was our third bedroom; although it was never really used as one. We had literally just turned it into Baby C's playroom when we found out that we were pregnant. So, now we have no dining room table and tons of toys in there. My DH has been hard at work moving furniture, preping the room, painting and tearing the carpet out.

Museum Trip

We are lucky to have a great museum center in the city closest to us. It has a children's, science and history and history museum. In the center, there is also an omnimax and room for special exhibits.

On our first full day of summer break (7.3.11) we had a fun-filled day! First we attended the special exhibit, C.leopatra. It was very educational and neat to look at and read about everything included. Baby C was well behaved.

Afterwards, she was thirsty!
We had planned to attend earlier in the day, but my sister C had told us that if we attended between 4-8pm on that particular day it would be FREE for the museums. So, that's what we did!

We then went to the children't museum. Baby C can't do everything, but there was ton that she could have fun with!
We then headed for some ice cream and a sit down break. Then, finished up our trip with a quick walk through of the science and history museum.

Can't wait until FREE Friday next month!

Unexpected OB Trip

So, I gave in an called my OB office today. For the last couple of days I have been getting headaches, night sweats, etc.... Then, today I woke up with AF cramps at 7am. I called around 2pm because they hadn't stopped even when I drank more than I am used to and laid on my left side. The Dr. wanted to see me. We live 35 minutes away. It took us a bit to get there.

It's all my fault... I'm not drinking enough fluids. Right now, liquids make me soooo nauseous! I guess I need up my zofran dosage again. My urine, BP, weight checked out just fine. Baby Girl heartbeat sounded great and she is moving like crazy.

She did an internal check to make sure. All is high and firm...... good news!

Discussion Group

We are part of an adoption group that is not affiliated with our agency, but many of those who are a part of it are in someway connected to the agency. The group is growing tremendously with the number of placements that our agency has been completing recently.

Every month, the group holds a discussion the first Wednesday of the month. My DH and I never get to go because it is held in the morning and we are teachers. Unfortunately, last summer while we were waiting and then had placement of Baby C, they did not hold meetings. This summer they decided to hold one in June and August, but take July off. So, I was excited when I got to attend. My DH did not; he was still completing the school year. It's so nice to sit and listen to others. Their stories are all amazing. It was nice to hear some of their concerns, the issues that had come up lately, etc...

During the meeting, many of the children attend a playgroup for $2 per hour. But, little ones can sit with their parents. Baby C stayed with me. She was amazing!
After the meeting, our close friend (her DH and her were in our same adoption education class as us) and another adoptive mother (whom I've met before) went to lunch at T.he C.heescake F.actory.

It was a great day!
